LAKEVIEW YOUTH IS PARTNERING WITH THE GREATER BIRMINGHAM HUMANE SOCIETY!
The GBHS takes in stray and surrendered animals, offers them medical care, food, shelter, and exhausts efforts to adopt them out to loving, forever homes.
We have placed collection bins in the lobby of our church. If you are interested in participating, drop off your donated items by 3/14/21. You may also click the “Amazon Wish List” link below for a detailed register of specific items they are in need of.
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted!

LAKEVIEW WELCOMES OUR NEWLY APPOINTED
REV. CHRIS HERBERT
A New Season Begins!
Rev. Chris Herbert comes to Lakeview under appointment by the North Alabama Cabinet and our Bishop Deborah Wallace Padgett. Chris has been a pastor for thirteen years and is quick to say that it’s all about God. He was the Mountain Lakes District Denman Evangelism Nominee in 2016. In his last appointment, Chris was brought in to move the church past a church merge that struggled prior to his arrival. He was one of the speakers at Annual Conference last year and gave a presentation on the Conference’s Healthy Church initiative. He spoke on the need to “Die to the Self” and drove home the fact that our churches must challenge people to move away from personal wishes for the greater purpose of the local church in the world. His path is somewhat different, as he brings with him a business management background and received his calling to preach the Gospel later than many who are called.
Chris completed the UMC Course of Study program in Theological Studies several years ago at Emory (Candler). What’s incredible is that He completed the course work while he was an insurance agent in Guntersville, Alabama (which also includes continuing ed). His Insurance business was full service with staff, and his wife Ashley helped run the office as office manager due to their growth. In the insurance agency world, Chris’s company was named Agency of the year for the North Alabama District (08) and was runner up for this award another year. Prior to driving his own company, Chris was a claims manager for a major carrier and relocated his family to Guntersville from Mobile, AL 18 years ago. He grew up in the UMC and was a Sunday school teacher for adults for several years, then led a growing Young Adult ministry at Guntersville First UMC and due to its growth he was selected by the Bishop to plan and lead a young adult initiative prior to his launch into pastoral leadership. He studied and was mentored under Dr. Robin Scott (North Alabama Conference Director of New Church Development & Cabinet Member) and Rev. Terry Bentley (Current DS, Mountain Lakes District). Chris will serve on the North Alabama Council on Administration and Finance and begins there after our Annual Conference this year.
Chris is married to Ashley Herbert, and has two daughters Emma and Bradley. This is a crazy time for the Herberts as they are moving here to serve Lakeview and at the same time becoming empty nesters. Emma is a junior at Auburn and is studying to get her degree in Public Relations. Bradley will start college this fall at Auburn University of Montgomery where she will be studying to get her degree in Exercise Science to prepare her for physical therapy school. She will be running Cross Country for AUM as well.
Chris is a pastor who does everything with passion and it won’t take long to pick up on his excitement for Lakeview.
His favorite saying is, “until the nets are full!”
His favorite verse of Scripture is Matt. 19:26
He loves Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and feels like they may be handed out in the Kingdom.
