Please welcome Glenna Bridges as Lakeview’s Interim Youth Director! Glenna was born in Albany, Georgia and grew up in Auburn, Alabama. She graduated from Samford University in 2019 with a major in Biology and a minor in Human Development and Family Studies.
Glenna began serving as a volunteer at Young Life in 2015. She later moved to staff and continued to serve until July 2021. Young Life is a not-for-profit that focuses on bringing Jesus into the lives of middle school and high school students.
Glenna’s passion stemmed from childhood as a recipient of Young Life. She thought of ways to enhance the role of mentor and become more involved in the lives of youth. Glenna’s service included everything from just sitting with students in the gym before school to attending show choir, football games, volley ball games and wide variety of other youth oriented events. Glenna has also been known to play a game of pokemon or two!
When asked what she liked about the youth, Glenna responded “I love their energy! I am here for y’all and these kids”.
Glenna has a large family. Her parents have been married for 27 years. She is the oldest and has 4 siblings; two brothers and a younger twin sibling set. Glenna beams with pride and love when describing her family.
Glenna’s hobbies include reading, embroidery, working out and playing nintendo. She describes herself as “such a nerd.” Nerd or not, Glenna brings a wealth of energy and cheerfulness to our Lakeview family.
13 I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
I am so blessed to be able to introduce myself to you! I was appointed to serve as the Pastor of Lakeview UMC in July of 2020 ( yes, smack dab in the middle of covid!) While that was difficult because I am a hand shaker and a hugger, this church made the process easy. Lakeview is an incredible church with an incredible future. I have been a Pastor for 14 years now and have been able to watch God move in and through a lot of people. Simply put, I have a passion for growth. For myself and for any church I serve. I have always known that the stakes are high, that more lives need Jesus. I was blessed to be the 2016 Mountain Lakes District Denman Evangelism Nominee. I have been a teacher for the North Alabama Conference’s Healthy Church Initiative and have been a speaker twice at Annual Conference. I have been blessed to speak at numerous Christian conferences. I have a business background and went back to school later in life. I completed the UMC, Course Of Theological Studies Program at Emory University(Candler). Then my wife and I sold our company and my church voted to move me to full time( God’s knows what He is doing!). I grew up in the UMC and was a Sunday School Teacher and then a Young Adult Leader prior to answering my calling to preach. As a Lay Leader, I worked with the Office of the Bishop to create a Young Adult initiative in the Conference. I studied and was mentored for many years by Dr. Robin Scott and Rev. Terry Bentley(DS). I am currently serving on the Council of Finance for the UMC. I am married to an incredible woman of God ( Ashley ) and I have two daughters who are believers ( Emma and Bradley). Emma is a Senior at Auburn University, majoring in Public Relations and Bradley is a Sophomore at Auburn Of Montgomery, Studying Exercise Science and runs on the Cross Country Team there.
As the Pastor at Lakeview, I want you to know you have a place here.
I believe we should do life and everything in it with great passion.
My favorite saying is, “Until the nets are full!”
My favorite verse of Scripture is Matthew 19:26
I love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and feel that they will be handed out in the Kingdom!
Whether you decide to grow your faith at Lakeview or not, know that I care and am available should you ever need a friend or pastor to talk to. If you do come to Lakeview, put your seatbelt on, and be ready to grow spiritually and help us to grow numerically.
